We will be making these earrings. You will need to bring  your clay tools, translucent, black and white clay.  you will need a pencil or knitting needle or something similar to wrap the clay around.  Sharp bleades to cut thin slices would be helpful as well.

We will try some other canes if there is time, or as usual we might just take play a bit so feel free to bring along other clay if the mood strikes you.
See you there.

Supplies needed:

Basic PC tools & pasta machine.

Suggested colors of polymer clay: browns, tans, blacks. (You can also use PC "mud" & color it with pastel chalks.)

Hinges & door handles can be made out of clay or metal findings & actual small hinges.

First meeting of the year... Make your own tools

1/12/2015

Get Your Tools Ready for a Great Year of Claying!

We'll have two hands-on projects:

1. Making new and/or repurposing found items to use for texturing and imprinting clay.

2. Making and shaping your own clay cutters.

In addition,  we will be bringing samples of do-it-yourself tools and repurposed objects.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their own DIY and repurposed tools.

Plan on bringing 1 black clay and 2-3 additional colors.  Pasta machine, blades, any diy tool they want to show.
Scrap clay is always good to use for this kind of project as well as old canes.

We will be adding pictures of some home made tools on Facebook ( under Rocky Mountain Polymer Clay Guild) and the our blog here..... over the next week to help inspires

A little more information on The Silkscreen class.

10/10/2014

Got an email from Tina:

Encourage folks to draw some of their own art, like Zentangle about 2x2 inches. the design shouldn't be too crowded, kinda open designs. I'll bring some zentangle samples for ideas if we draw these in class..no shading..just dark B&W line work. Bring juicy sharpies.

I'd like to get a design from each of them and put it all on one 8-1/2 x 11 sheet and take it to Office max to get a transparency made of their designs and then make a silk screen from that. I'll have some Celtic images to use also. Is there an Office max within a mile or two?

Also Mary ordered a package of the EZscreeens for everyone to use in class.

I am so excited about this class.  I know NOTHING about silk screen, but it looks amazing.

See you all next Saturday.

Also we are doing a pot luck this week, so please bring a dish to share, paper plates, plastic silverware and napkins will be provided.

Please remember to bring conditioned clay, waiting or repeating for people who have not conditioned clay can be disruptive to the group, the door is  open early for those who prefer to condition at the classroom.
